Dark Chocolate, Toffee, Bonbon
Legacy is named for Wogan's founder, Brian Wogan, and it earns the title. Two origins - Ethiopian and Peruvian - are roasted to different levels, then brought together for notes of dark chocolate, toffee and bonbon sweetness. Both are certified organic and Fairtrade, sourced from cooperatives that return a meaningful share of profits directly to their farmers.
Rich, ethical, built to last
Named in honour of Brian Wogan, who founded the business in Bristol in 1970, Legacy is a blend that puts his belief in ethical sourcing directly in the cup. Two origins, two roast levels - one taken to medium, the other more developed - come together to give the coffee a layered character: dark chocolate and toffee on one side, a softer bonbon sweetness on the other.
The Ethiopian half comes from the Kilenso Mokonisa cooperative in Sidamo, part of the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union - a network of around 20,000 farmers working collectively to improve livelihoods and build resilience to climate change. OCFCU returns 70% of its net profit to its cooperatives, and Kilenso Mokonisa passes 70% of its own profits back to member farmers. The Peruvian half is sourced from Aprocoyce, a cooperative that grew from 23 founding partners to more than 380, running reforestation projects, soil conservation plans and solid waste management across the 750 hectares its members farm.
Both are certified organic and Fairtrade. Legacy works across pretty much any brew method - espresso, filter, cafetiere - and holds up well with milk. Rich and satisfying without being heavy, it's the kind of blend you come back to without needing a reason.
About the Roaster
Wogan Coffee has been part of Bristol's fabric for over fifty years, now run across three generations with one branch in Bristol and another in London. As a wholly independent family company, they've spent decades learning not just how to roast well, but how to do it responsibly - paying the living wage, running solar-powered roasteries, and delivering locally by cargo bike.
