Maple Syrup, Praline, Milk Chocolate
A decaf that doesn't announce itself as one. This Honduras from Wogan Coffee is rich and rounded, with maple syrup sweetness, praline and milk chocolate coming through clearly in the cup. Processed using the Swiss Water method, it's 99.9% caffeine-free, fully organic and Fairtrade certified - and it holds up just as well through an espresso machine as it does in a cafetiere or filter.

Decaf that doesn't dumb down
Honduras has a knack for producing coffee that feels complete - rich, rounded, with a warmth that carries from the first sip to the last. This one brings maple syrup sweetness, praline depth and a gentle milk chocolate finish, and the Swiss Water process keeps all of that intact while removing 99.9% of the caffeine without a single chemical involved. It works by circulating a green coffee extract - water-soluble coffee solids, minus the caffeine - through the beans over eight to ten hours, drawing the caffeine out by osmosis and filtering it away. What's left is the flavour you'd expect from the origin, and it shows.
The coffee comes from COCAFELOL, a co-operative in Honduras's Ocotepeque Department - a mountainous region on the border with Guatemala and El Salvador, surrounded by national parks and well suited to growing coffee at altitude. The co-operative has put Fairtrade premium funding to work building a fertiliser business from coffee husks and natural fungi, which member farms receive free of charge. It's the kind of joined-up thinking that tends to show up in the cup.
Organic and Fairtrade certified, this is a decaf that holds its own alongside anything caffeinated on the shelf.

About the Roaster
Wogan Coffee has been part of Bristol's fabric for over fifty years, now run across three generations with one branch in Bristol and another in London. As a wholly independent family company, they've spent decades learning not just how to roast well, but how to do it responsibly - paying the living wage, running solar-powered roasteries, and delivering locally by cargo bike.
