Keylime Pie, Pineapple Rum
Grown on the slopes of Mount Elgon and processed naturally by Norman Mukuru and Maria Kirya at The Coffee Yard, Muki is a filter coffee with real presence. Key lime pie and pineapple rum lead the way, with a winey acidity that keeps things lively. If you like your filter coffees tropical and expressive, this one's for you.

Tropical, boozy and unapologetically fruit-forward
Muki is a microlot named after the two people behind it - Norman Mukuru, who has spent nearly 20 years working with coffee and has been refining natural processing since 2018, and Maria Kirya, whose blind cupping keeps quality consistent across every harvest. The coffee comes from The Coffee Yard, a central processing hub drawing in cherries from the districts of Sironko, Mbale, Bulambuli and Kapchorwa on the slopes of Mount Elgon. Growing altitudes between 1,800 and 2,100 metres give the Arabica cherries plenty of time to develop.
The anaerobic natural process brings out the more expressive side of the bean. Key lime pie and pineapple rum are the roaster's own tasting notes, and they give you a fair sense of what to expect: tropical, a little boozy, with a winey acidity underneath. It's a filter coffee that makes itself known without being difficult about it.
Ross, Press Coffee's go-to for Ugandan origins, rates this one particularly highly - and it's easy to see why.

About the Roaster
Press Coffee & Co started life in 2013 as a single espresso bar on Fleet Street, grew to seven sites across Central London, and in 2019 found its footing with a roastery in Herne Hill. Andy and Nelly now run it as a focused roasting operation - sourcing, roasting and supplying coffee to wholesale partners and home brewers alike, with a small, close-knit team who take the coffee seriously without making a performance of it.
