Andy and Nelly's Herne Hill roastery, grown from a Fleet Street coffee bar.
Press Coffee & Co started life in 2013 as a single espresso bar on Fleet Street, grew to seven sites across Central London, and in 2019 found its footing with a roastery in Herne Hill. Andy and Nelly now run it as a focused roasting operation - sourcing, roasting and supplying coffee to wholesale partners and home brewers alike, with a small, close-knit team who take the coffee seriously without making a performance of it.
Their Coffee Range
The Press Blend is a good place to start - a Colombia and Brazil espresso blend with clementine, salted caramel and hazelnut that holds up whether you're pulling shots or steaming milk. If you want something with a bit more drama, Guzman brings red fruits and a soft, sparkling finish that sits somewhere between a filter and a celebration. The Fleet, a natural process Brazil from Alta Mogiana, pulls things back towards walnut, milk chocolate and caramel - richer and more settled.
Move into filter and the range opens up. Bujumbura from Burundi is bright and juicy, with lemon sweetness and a delicate rosé character. Muki from Uganda - Ross's favourite origin - goes punchy and tropical. Loma Ocotitlan, their first Mexican coffee, takes a quieter path with tropical sweetness and a tea-like finish. And if you're after something without the caffeine, Condor Decaf is a Colombian single origin with chocolate and Viennese biscuit - not an afterthought, just a well-made coffee that happens to be decaf.
More About Press Coffee & Co
The story starts on Fleet Street in 2013, where Andy - previously a chef and a disillusioned retail-chain-café manager - opened a coffee bar called Get Coffee. It grew into The Fleet Street Press, then expanded to seven sites across Central London under the Press Coffee name. Roasting came next: first through slot roasting to learn the craft, then with their own roastery in Herne Hill in 2019. In 2025, Andy and Nelly stepped back from the cafés entirely to concentrate on what they'd always wanted to be - a proper specialty roastery.
Sustainability runs through the operation in practical rather than decorative ways. Reusable metal barrels delivered by electric van have saved over 750,000 bags from landfill in three years. Chaff from the roaster goes to a local allotment as fertiliser; jute sacks become raised plant beds. They pay London Living Wage across the board, mentor graduates from Well Grounded, and support The Clink Charity. Their Colombian producer Forest Coffee is actively planting 5,000 native trees across Tolima and Caldas - a project Press Coffee & Co believed in enough to send their head of operations Jack over to see for himself.
