Guava, Mango, Candied Pecan
A fruit-forward natural from the Rwenzori Mountains, Bukonzo Dream opens with guava and mango before settling into candied pecan sweetness and a smooth, lingering finish. Grown by smallholder farmers at high altitude and dried slowly on raised beds, it's the kind of coffee that suits a slower morning - one where you're not rushing anywhere in particular.

Tropical sweetness with a linger
Bukonzo Dream is a natural process coffee from the Rwenzori Mountains of western Uganda - grown at altitude between 1,800 and 2,000 metres by more than 2,000 smallholder farmers working with Agri Evolve. The cherries are delivered to Nyabirongo washing station near Kasese, sorted, floated, and then dried slowly on raised beds for up to four weeks. That long, careful drying is what gives the cup its character: guava and mango up front, a candied pecan sweetness settling in behind, and a finish that lingers longer than you might expect.
The name comes from the Bakonzo people, whose communities span the Rwenzori region across Uganda and the eastern DRC. The coffee's story began with Chris, a washing station manager from the Bakonzo tribe, who wanted to see coffee grown by his community roasted and enjoyed in the UK. Agri Evolve has been building on that ambition ever since - investing in processing infrastructure, paying fair prices, and supporting farmers across the region.
Dear Green's Q Grader will have put this through its paces before it made the list, so the cup earns the story behind it.

About the Roaster
Dear Green was founded by Lisa Lawson in Glasgow in 2011 - one woman, one roaster, and a clear sense of what specialty coffee could be in Scotland. Fourteen years on, they're a B Corp-certified roastery with a full team, a training space, and sourcing built on direct relationships and transparency. There's also a Q Grader in house, which means every coffee on the list has been properly scrutinised before it gets anywhere near you.
