Coaltown CoffeeCandle Light No.1 is a rich, full-bodied espresso with notes of dark chocolate, cinder toffee and toasted sweetness. Roasted for those who prefer a deeper, more traditional cup, it is a bold but balanced coffee that works beautifully black or with milk.
A richer coffee for slower mornings
Not everyone wants brightness and fruit-led complexity first thing in the morning. Sometimes you just want a coffee that feels grounding, rich and properly satisfying.
That is exactly where Candle Light No.1 sits. This is Coaltown’s deeper, darker espresso, built for drinkers who like their coffee with more weight behind it. Think dark chocolate, toasted sweetness and that subtle cinder toffee note that gives it a slightly smoky warmth without tipping into bitterness. It is bold, but still balanced.
The coffee rotates seasonally to keep the profile consistent, but the intention stays the same. A full-bodied espresso with depth, low acidity and the kind of richness that works beautifully with milk while still holding its own as a straight shot. It is easy to imagine this being the coffee someone reaches for on colder mornings, or when a lighter cup simply will not do.
Like much of Coaltown’s range, it feels rooted rather than showy. Honest coffee, built around flavour and familiarity, just with a darker edge.
About the Roaster
The Coaltown Roastery is our HQ and the heart of what we do. All of our coffee is roasted onsite and coaltown's retail, wholesale and training operations are located within the roastery. The site is just down from the old Ammanford mines and the old coal train use to pass us twice daily, so the location could not be more fitting!
