Owens Coffee is based at The Roastery in Endsleigh, near Ivybridge in Devon, where every batch is roasted in small lots. The business began in 2010, when founder Lorraine moved from a career in biotech into coffee. That background still shapes the way Owens approaches roasting, with a focus on precision, consistency and understanding how small changes affect the final cup.
They roast using a Loring Smart Roaster, chosen for the level of control it offers over time, temperature and airflow. Owens refers to this as clean roasting, with the aim of producing coffee that stays true to its origin while delivering a smooth and consistent result in the cup.
The site itself is more than just a roastery. It is home to the Perfect Waves Café, the Owens Coffee Academy and a shop space where visitors can explore the range and learn more about brewing. It reflects the same straightforward approach that runs through the coffee, welcoming, practical and focused on doing things well.
